Proprietor-winemaker Richard Harkham is a descendant of a family of Iraqi Jews, who were amongst the first pioneers of Israel’s renowned wine region in 1950's, Zichron Yackov. Aziza Harkham, matriarch of the Harkham family, with no electricity and scarce running water used to make natural food and wine for the family from fresh produce and grapes that she had grown. Following this tradition in 2005 brothers Terry, Efrem and Richard Harkham decided to buy Windarra Estate and winery in the Hunter Valley and established Harkham Winery, Australia's only Kosher winery.

They source mountain fruit from a select group of local growers and pay a premium for only top grade fruit. All of the vineyards are farmed sustainably, without pesticides or chemicals. All our fruit is carefully handpicked and sorted to eliminate rot, unripe fruit and any other diseases. These "Natural Wines" are made with only native yeast, no fining or filtration, and no added sulfites. The wines are not Meshuval.
