This is a selection of barrels by the ultra-prestigious La Maison & Velier, offering a selection and range of the best rum available to them and aged in their cellars in Cognac. It is an approachable but high quality range, introducing the concepts of different aging environments with nothing added post-distillation (sugar, glycerin, coloring, etc.).
Inspired by rum casks’ historical trips between the New World and the Old Continent, the Transcontinental Rum Line highlights the fact that from the beginning of its existence, rum has always been shipped to Europe for nautical, economical and technical reasons.
Nautical, because adding rum to stagnant water created a safe drink on long transatlantic voyages.
Economical, as the angels' share is lower and the rum to mature more smoothly.
Technical, thanks to the diversity of barrels having previously contained wine, whisky, cognac or other spirits, allowing the creation of unique expressions.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Result of a pot still distillation this rum was created in 2012 at the W.P. Distillery in the marvelous Lluidas Vale, Jamaica. This expression is bottled at Navy Strength (57.18%) after being matured for more than 4 years on the island and 1.5 year in the mild European climate.
