The Vallein Tercinier family has been in the Cognac region for more than 500 years. The company’s namesake, Robin Tercinier, arrived in the Saintonge region of Cognac in 1480, but the actual estate, Domaine des Forges, wasn’t purchased until 1791. The estate is comprised of vineyards and land that cover most of the surrounding village of Chermignac, which is approximately 30 km west of the Cognac Commune.
In 1850, George Vallein (Robin’s grandson) expanded the family business of making cognac to also include international trade. Over the next hundred and fifty years, George, along with his son Paul, and his grandson, Louis Tercinier, grew the family buisness so that the Vallein Tercinier name not only became synonymous with fine cognac, but also became a well respected exporter, distributing wine and spirits to most of Europe and Asia. In 1992, because of their effective distribution network, Vallein Tercinier was chosen to be the distributor for the fashion house Balmain, further cementing the company’s reputation as an exclusive, luxury brand.
Today, the company is owned by the fifth generation of the Tercinier family. and helmed by Catherine Roudier-Tercinier.
